savannah's olympic torch sculpture

perhaps you might remember that the olympic games were held in atlanta, georgia in 1996. the olympic torch passed through savannah that year and it was also the venue for the yachting competitions of the olympics. to commemorate savannah's olympic role, this torch sculpture was made depicting five columns which represent each of the five olympic rings. this sculpture, which was originally lit with the olympic flame from greece during the atlanta olympics, stands by the riverfront.
